Reverse side of all sticks, regardless of scale. This info is general and relates to any scale or mode.
It explains intervals and extensions, and is color coded to show that scale degrees
and their extensions have a difference of 7
(e.g. a 6th degree and a 13th are the same note,but in a higher octave).

Major scale stick. (Package includes 2 sticks.) Shows 7 modes of the major scale.
It shows scale formula (and conversion from whole step = 2; whole step + half = 3, etc.)
Notice that the first interval simply moves to end of the next mode (becoming the 7th degree).
It also show common uses, over corresponding chords.
This piece remains aligned flush end to end with black scale pattern.

Specific pentatonic stick (option includes 2) with modes, and their brief description.
Note that Pentatonic is "parent" scale of 5th mode (e.g. minor pentatonic).

Specific Blues stick (option includes 2) with modes, and their brief description.

Specific Harmonic Minor stick (option includes 2) with modes, and their brief description.

Specific Jazz Minor stick (option includes 2) with modes, and their brief description.

Keyboard facsimile. This allows the keyboard student the ability to "see" scales, modes, and arpeggios; and intervals and extensions for chord construction. This piece remains aligned with note sheet end to end.

Notice some notes have 2 names; these are called "enharmonic equivalents".

Overlay for any scale or mode with a 3, a 5, and a major 7th. It shows tonic, chord, and scale tones.

Notice that when "at rest" or flush on the ends, the scale is always in the key of G.

When we go to modes (by changing the overlays), we make A the tonic of A Dorian mode,
we can use the same notes as G major, but we use A as the root, or tonic, for the Dorian sound.

With the Mixolydian overlay in place (either above or behind the black scale pattern),
we see D as the root or tonic. Notice again, that we can use the same notes as G major
(or A Dorian, for that matter), but by making D the tonic, and emphasizing characteristic
notes, we get the sound of D Mixolydian.

"Floating nut" with snap fastener. This can also snap over the 9 pieces for portability.

Below are some brief explainations on
how to use the Music Theory Tool

Major scale BSP with keyboard reversed.
For any 12 tone wind instrument. If in concert "C" pitch, no transposition is necessary.
If in B flat, for example, slide the BSP up 2 steps to transpose.

Shows Parent Key of C (no sharps or flats)
Note that this adjustment also delivers the D Dorian mode, E Phrygian, etc.
Also shows the included keyboard facsimile.

Major Scale BSP with keyboard.
Common stick and BSP are off set to left, to deliver 7th mode of F Major, E Locrian.
Notice that the "Major specific stick" stays flush with the BSP ALWAYS,
but the moveable "common stick" identifies E as the 1 (8).
Also notice the keyboard and note sheet stay flush on ends, ALWAYS.
With E as the 1, or tonic, chords can also be constructed by adding the proper intervals.
